Lehár founded his publishing company, Glocken Verlag, in Vienna in 1935, shortly after the premiere of Giuditta at the Staatsoper.

This followed the collapse of the Theater an der Wien, scene of many of his earlier triumphs. The publishing company set up by the Theater an der Wien's former manager, Wilhelm Karczag, which owned many of Lehár's copyrights, was also, by association, under threat and an amicable agreement saw the return to Lehár of all of his copyrights and the complete stock of performing material.

Lehár found offices on the Theobaldgasse and spent much of his time in the ensuing years overseeing the administration of his catalogue, licensing performances of his operettas around Europe and further afield.

By the end of the War, the ageing Lehár had come to realise that he needed someone with whom he could entrust his publishing business and the management of his future estate. Otto Blau, the nephew of Josef Weinberger, was by this time head of Weinberger Verlag. Lehár initially attempted to recruit Blau to run Glocken Verlag, but they eventually agreed that the Glocken Verlag business would be administered by Weinberger, as it is to this day by Weinberger's London, Frankfurt and Vienna offices.

Glocken Verlag continues the publication and licensing of Lehár's works either directly in Austria, Germany and Great Britain or through its many agents in other territories. New translations of the operettas have been created and published and adapted versions of the principal operettas have been made for non-professional companies.

An important new initiative, prompted by the release of new recordings of Lehár's songs, is a complete collection of Lehár Lieder currently being prepared for publication by the London firm. Other initiatives, current or recent, include:
  • Publication of Jeremy Sams' excellent new English translation of Die Lustige Witwe for The Royal Opera
  • Publication: The new English version of Paganini made for South Australian State Opera by David Kram and Dennis Olsen
  • Recordings: Helping launch Telarc's series of four Lehár operettas in English (The Land of Smiles, Paganini, Giuditta and The Czarevitch)
  • Publication: Jerry Hadley's new English version of Das Land des Lächelns made for that series
  • Publication: A vocal score of Fieber, the tone-poem for voice and orchestra, with an English translation by Jeremy Sams
  • Preparation of new full scores for Lehár's orchestral works, several of which been rediscovered through new recordings
  • Publication: An album of solo guitar arrangements of the most famous operetta arias by John Zaradin
  • Promotional campaigns timed to coincide with significant Lehár anniversaries
  • The creation of an archive of recordings of Lehár's works
