It’s Princess Aurora’s sixteenth birthday, and Flora, Fauna and Merryweather must use their fairy magic to save her from the spell of evil sorceress Maleficent! This classic fairy tale told Disney-style has many roles for a large chorus, from King Stefan and Queen Stefanie’s Loyal Subjects to Maleficent’s slimy Goons. Everyone will want to sing and dance along to the classic “Once Upon a Dream” and fun new numbers like “Goon Conga” and “Let’s Have Some Magic Now.”

Ways to Expand: Maleficent can certainly have lots of Goons and Briar Rose needs all the Fairy help she can get. y number of Alley Cats that you like to this production to give as many students as possible an opportunity to be a part of the show.

Staging Demands: The production can be staged very simply with a few specific props. The Choreographic DVD shows you an example of how to execute the transformation of Maleficent into a dragon.
Considerations: Disney’s Sleeping Beauty KIDS is a great show for a large group of students. Between the Fairies, the Goons, and the Forest Animals there are also plenty of roles that should excite all different types of performers. The songs in the show are all based on Tchaikovsky’s classic score, which makes the score slightly more difficult than some other shows, but it is still completely accessible for a student audience.
