Called To Be Happy is a cantata of hope, inspired by the life of 17th-century Englishwoman Mary Ward, whose vision and unshakeable optimism enabled her to overcome the many obstacles she faced as a strong-minded woman in a man's world. The words used by Mary Ward to encourage her young followers four hundred years ago now offer encouragement to contemporary young women as they start on life's journey in today's modern world.
