Die Faschingsfee(1917) is a revised, German version of Kálmán’s earlier Hungarian operetta Zsuzsi kisasszony (1915). SYNOPSIS: 1917, Munich. Victor Ronai, a painter, celebrates winning 50,000 marks offered by a Count. Rescuing a beautiful woman, he discovers that her assailant is none other than his benefactor, the Count. The prize is withdrawn, but all Victor desires is the opportunity to see the woman again. Three weeks later, Victor is unable to shake the memory of the woman he rescued, and has painted her from memory as The Carnival Fairy. He is surprised to discover that his prize money has been restored to him, by the Count, he assumes, though it has actually come from the woman, Princess Alexandra. Thus follows a series of misunderstandings…
