Praise for Patterson's Penderecki piece!

Paul Patterson

Wednesday 7th January was “Paul Patterson Day” at this year’s PLG Young Artists New Year Series, featuring both a masterclass by the composer and a concert featuring works both chosen and written by him.

In a 4-star review, The Times’ Hilary Finch writes that “I felt smiles crinkling at the corners of my mouth at several points throughout the evening. This was thanks in large part to the presence of Paul Patterson as the day’s ‘Frontline Composer’.

Writing for classicalsource.com, Colin Anderson was also appreciative: “One appreciates Patterson’s rigorous approach to composition, which also embraces much stylistic variety and expressive freedom.” He later described Patterson’s works as “generously lyrical, witty” and “ebullient and soulful.”

Just the tonic for a cold, January evening!
